Italian sommelier Guido Invernizzi praised the growing global recognition and high quality of Georgian wine at the Merano Wine Festival, as reported by the National Wine Agency of Georgia.
Invernizzi highlighted the rich 8,000-year history of Georgian wine and its blend of traditional and modern winemaking techniques. At the event, which featured 20 Georgian wineries, he recalled tasting the unique Racha-Lechkhumi Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli wines on a previous visit.
The festival showcased wines from various Georgian regions, including the award-winning Kvevari and Saperavi varieties. This year marked the 33rd edition of the festival, which attracts wine professionals and enthusiasts from across Europe. Last year, a UNESCO-recognized qvevri clay vessel was displayed in Merano’s historical center.
