Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, criticized the post-Soviet Baltic states for supporting Saakashvili’s reckless stance toward Russia while attacking Georgia's current government, which prioritizes peace and national interests.
He pointed out that these countries, citing concerns over “democratic regression,” have imposed sanctions on Georgia, despite their previous support for Saakashvili’s authoritarian regime. Papuashvili questioned their real motives, suggesting it’s less about democracy and more about pressuring Georgia, especially over its stance on NATO and international security.
Shalva Papuashvili speculated that their actions are driven by a desire to use Georgia as a tool against Russia, as noted by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. Ultimately, Papuashvili argued that the Baltics will only align with Georgia if it sacrifices its own interests to harm Russia, even if that means hindering Georgia’s European integration.
