‘The Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan Honda Taro and his entourage. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze,’ - the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reports.
A wide range of trade and economic relations between Georgia and Japan were discussed at the meeting, with special emphasis on the development of bilateral trade, cooperation in the energy, telecommunications, transport and other sectors.
"Georgia-Japan economic relations are developing quite steadily. An agreement was signed last year that will help protect and recognize mutual investments, as well as encourage investment from both sides. Japan has a great potential for investing with Georgia. Interesting directions in the field of energy and telecommunications were identified at the meeting. We will work with specific Japanese companies in this regard. We also talked about Georgia's transit opportunities, which are becoming more and more interesting for Japanese companies to connect with Europe,"- said the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili after the meeting.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the meeting also focused on the greater liberalization of trade relations between Georgia and Japan, which will increase trade turnover between the two countries.
"We think it is very important that after a pandemic, a country with a highly developed economy like Japan is interested in Georgia in the context of economic recovery. This underscores the favorable investment climate that has developed in Georgia in recent years,” - said the Deputy Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili.
