
"After the pandemic, Georgia was able to recover 100% of the tourism revenue, which gives us a reason to expect that in 2022, the tourism revenue will exceed $3 billion," - Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia said during her speech at the 117th session of the Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
According to her, these indicators have a direct impact on the creation of new jobs and the improvement of the well-being of the local population.
At the event, which is being held in the Kingdom of Morocco, the key issues and the most pressing topics of the international travel and tourism agenda will be discussed. The Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is the most important and influential platform of the tourism industry, Georgia is a member of the Council for 2021-2025.
As Mariam Kvrivishvili noted in her speech, the session of the UNWTO Executive Council was an extraordinary opportunity to talk about the progress that the member countries had achieved in the recent period. In addition, the Deputy Minister emphasized the close partnership that exists between the member states of the Council and serves the effective implementation of common goals. According to her, continuous support of the general secretary of the organization, Zurab Pololikashvili and the team of the organization, new initiatives and programs had a direct impact on the restoration of tourism on an international scale.
