
Irakli Kadagishvili, Chair of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee of Georgia, held a series of meetings in the Parliament of Japan during a working visit, which was organized at the invitation of Ichiro Aisawa, Head of the Japan-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Kadagishvili met with Tani Koichi, Chair of the Special Committee on Regional Revitalization and Formation of a Digital Society in the Japanese Parliament. During their discussions, the two leaders reviewed the prospects for enhancing parliamentary cooperation and exchanged views on regional arrangements and policies, according to the Parliament’s press office.
Aisawa and Kadagishvili emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the Friendship Groups and facilitating exchange visits. Both politicians reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the relations between their respective Friendship Groups.
Kadagishvili also expressed his gratitude to Aisawa and the Japanese Parliament for Japan’s steadfast support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. On behalf of Nikoloz Samkharadze, Head of the Georgia-Japan Friendship Group, Kadagishvili invited Japanese Members of Parliament to Georgia for a working visit.
In addition to his parliamentary meetings, Kadagishvili met with Tadaharu Uehara, President of the Japan-Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. They discussed trade and economic relations between Georgia and Japan, highlighting the positive investment climate. Uehara, who previously served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia, expressed strong interest in the country.
As part of efforts to strengthen economic ties, Uehara mentioned that Japanese start-ups are planning to visit Georgia, with plans to engage with the Economic Ministry. Kadagishvili welcomed this initiative and emphasized the Parliament’s commitment to supporting the enhancement of trade and economic relations between the two nations.
