
In January-March 2023, the import value of electricity to Georgia was at a record low level.
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), during this period, the country's transmission network was supplied with electricity worth $762.4 thousand, which is 97.5% [$29.9 million] less than the figure of the previous year.
In the first quarter of 2023, 600.3 million kWh of electricity was supplied to Georgia, which is 44.1% less than the figure [1.1 billion kWh] of the previous year.
In the first three months of this year, the main importer of electricity (with $657.6 thousand) to Georgia is Russia, and Azerbaijan ranks 2nd with $104.8 thousand.
The largest amount of electricity was imported from Russia to Georgia last year, and the country paid 10.6 million USD for it. In 2022, the second and third largest importers were Armenia (10.2 million USD) and Azerbaijan (9 million USD).
