
In January-June 2022, Georgia’s external trade turnover in goods (without undeclared trade) was $ 8,477.4 million, which is 35.4 percent more compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), in the first half of 2022, exports amounted to $ 2,558.7 million (increased by 35.6 percent), while imports amounted to $ 5 918.6 million (35.3 percent higher).
The trade deficit of Georgia in January-June 2022 amounted to $ 3,359.9 million, which is 39.6 percent of external trade turnover. In January-June 2022, the share of the ten largest exporting countries in the total export of Georgia amounted to 79.0 percent. The top three exporters were formed as follows: China ($ 400.0 million), Azerbaijan ($ 287.0 million) and Russia ($ 256.5 million).
In January-June 2022, the share of the ten largest import partner countries in the total import of Georgia amounted to 66.4 percent. The top three include: Turkey ($ 1,039.9 million), Russia ($ 705.7 million) and China ($ 522.5 million).
In January-June 2022, the share of the ten largest trade partner countries in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 68.7 percent. The largest trade partners of the country are: Turkey ($ 1,294.0 million), Russia ($ 962.2 million) and China ($ 922.5 million).
The largest import commodity group in January-June 2022 was presented in the form of light vehicles, the import of which amounted to $ 606.8 million and was 10.3 percent of all imports. The second place was occupied by oil and oil products with $ 576.8 million (9.7 percent of imports), followed by copper ores and concentrates with $ 416.3 million (7.0 percent of imports).
