The National Bank of Georgia has published the statistics for money transfers in January 2025.
According to the data, remittances from European Union countries account for the largest share of total inflows, amounting to $109.3 million, or 45.1% of the overall transfers. Among the EU countries, Italy, Germany, and Greece are identified as the primary sources of these financial flows.
The United States has shown continued growth in remittance volumes, with transfers in January 2025 reaching $47.3 million, reflecting a substantial year-on-year increase of 23.2%.
However, the broader trend indicates a decline in overall remittance inflows, with total transfers to Georgia in January 2025 decreasing by 8.5%, totaling $242.4 million. This decrease is largely attributed to a reduction in remittances from Russia, a trend that is also observed with transfers from Kazakhstan.
In contrast, outbound financial flows from Georgia have experienced an upward trajectory. In January 2025, $28.2 million was sent abroad, marking an 8.4% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, as reported by the National Bank.
