For Georgia, hazelnuts and other nuts are one of the important products in the commodity names of local production, which are exported in large volumes. For years, nuts have been among the top ten export commodity groups, but in 2023, the export volume of nuts decreased by 13.4%, and in the ranking of domestic exports, this product ranked tenth with a share of 3.1%. In total, Georgia received $85 million 710 thousand from the export of nuts last year.
In January-March, nuts worth $20 million 201 thousand were exported from Georgia, which is 21.2% lower than the figure of the same period last year.
The traditional sales market for nuts is the European Union countries, however, during the first three months of the year, the volume of export of nuts to the European Union countries was halved, and the value decreased by 29.2%. In addition, over the years, the largest volume of Georgian hazelnuts from the EU countries was exported to Italy, although in the first quarter of 2024, the export of goods to Italy decreased sharply.
In the ranking of the largest exporting countries, Spain ranked first in this period. Russia took the second place, where the export volume of nuts increased in January-March. The ranking of Georgia's top trading partners by nut exports is as follows:

Italy - $852 thousand, 121 tons; a decrease of - 81.7%;
Lebanon - $774 thousand, 105 tons; an increase of - 1398%;
Ukraine - $622 thousand, 108 tons, a decrease of 29.5%.
