Tornike Rizhvadze, the Chairman of the Government of the western Georgian region of Adjara, said the number of domestic and international visits to the region had last year exceeded 4.3 million for the first time.
The regional Government said revenues from tourism and travel in the area had reached $3.3 billion in 2023 in a 30 percent rise, while the number of visits had increased by 25.3 percent compared to 2022.
Rizhvadze said 2023 had been “outstanding” for the tourism industry in the area, with the region able to “fully restore” both visitor flows and increase income from the sector.
The meeting also discussed growing numbers in tourism and international projects planned for this year, including advertising and marketing campaigns intended for target countries, as well as projects contributing to the development of tourism in the region.
