
During the last ten years, the export of blueberries from Georgia has increased to a record level, and in 2022, Georgia received $8 million 519 thousand from the sale of blueberries, cranberries and other berries. As a result, 1,392 tons of goods were sold to different markets of the world.
According to official statistics, the volume of exported blueberries increased by 46% compared to 2021, and the value increased by 50%.
During this period, goods were sold in a total of 11 countries. In addition, the main sales market was Russia. 90% of blueberry exports were made in this direction.
Georgia's top-3 trading partners by exports:
1. Russia - $7,648,240 - 1,276 tons;
2. Armenia - $392,740 - 45 tons;
3. The United Arab Emirates - $298,250, 41 tons.
In addition, blueberries were sold to Bahrain, Germany, Singapore, the Netherlands, India, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Sales markets for goods have decreased compared to the previous year.
As for imports, according to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), the import of blueberries into Georgia in 2022 also increased, although its rate is low. More specifically, the country purchased 70 tons of blueberries worth a total of $618,000 in 2022. This indicator has increased by 160% compared to 2021. The main blueberry importing countries in the reporting period were the Netherlands ($586,000; 61 tons) and Ukraine ($26,000; 7 tons), with insignificant volumes of blueberries also coming from France, Armenia and Belarus.
