
"It is important for the Middle Corridor to maintain long-term competitiveness. For this, coordination at a high level is needed, so that our transport shipments are comfortable and more attractive for international actors in order the country to receive additional revenues from this direction," - Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili, said at the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route [Middle Corridor] meeting in Tbilisi.
The General Director of JSC Georgian Railways Davit Peradze also welcomed the participants of the conference.
The mentioned union, which has been promoting the strengthening of intermodal and multimodal transportation since 2013, is actively working to increase freight transportation in the corridor.
According to Levan Davitashvili, it is symbolic that such a representative event coincided with the 150th anniversary of the Georgian Railway. According to him, at the general meeting, the heads of transport agencies, railway and port infrastructure of the member countries of the Middle Corridor gathered to discuss the competitiveness of the corridor and the advantages of the Middle Corridor.
The general meeting of the International Association - Trans-Caspian International Transport Route [Middle Corridor] - is being held in Georgia for the second time. The heads of the railways of Georgia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey are participating in it.
