According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili, the economic ties between Georgia and Armenia have become particularly active in recent years. As the Minister explained, trade turnover, which had significantly increased, was worth mentioning among them.
According to him, quite significant dynamics are recorded in the direction of transport, logistics and shipping.
“The dynamics of recovery can already be observed in terms of tourist flows, because in 2022 up to 700,000 visitors from Armenia came to Georgia. According to the data of the first eleven months of last year, the trade turnover exceeded $ one billion; we have seen a 70% increase. We can say that the dynamics of recovery can already be observed in terms of tourist flows. We received up to 700,000 visitors from the Republic of Armenia in 2022. In general, the tourist flow is increasing, and Armenia ranks third among the tourist markets of Georgia. So, many areas of cooperation connect Georgia and Armenia. We also talked about cooperation in the field of energy.
Both countries can produce electricity to promote each other's energy independence and security, and also to use the new opportunities that Georgia has in connection with Europe in terms of electricity transit and trade. So, this active agenda creates good prospects for further cooperation", - Levan Davitashvili said.
