During her participation in the Mothers' March, Georgia's fifth President, Salome Zurabishvili, called on mothers to recognize that true peace cannot be achieved without justice. She emphasized that it is not the peace won by others, but the one earned by children who have endured hardship with dignity that will bring real freedom to both them and the country.
Zurabishvili stated, “Until our children are not free, there is no real peace. If there is no justice, there is no peace—only an imaginary peace.” She expressed the importance of mothers coming together to demand justice for their children, stating that only when children are free will the country be free.
She also wished a happy Mother’s Day to all mothers, acknowledging the pride of mothers whose children defend their country with dignity. Zurabishvili urged other mothers who believe in “imaginary peace” to recognize that it will be the children who endure with dignity who will truly win peace. Additionally, she expressed her solidarity with mothers abroad, who share in both the sorrow and hope for the future.
