“I express solidarity with the imprisoned fighters for the European future of Georgia. I am here in solidarity with Mzia Amaglobeli, Zurab Japaridze, President Mikheil Saakashvili, and many others. Happy Independence Day to your country,” said Lithuanian Member of the European Parliament Rasa Juknevičienė, addressing the Georgian people at the rally on Rustaveli Avenue.
According to the MEP, she believes in the brave Georgian people.
“Dear Georgians, with great respect, I stand in front of you today here and say: thank you for the opportunity to be with you on this very special day. You are amazing. You are my heroes. You are the heroes of very many people in Europe. I convey to you the congratulations of many of my colleagues from the European Parliament on the occasion of Independence Day, and to you, dear President. You have many friends in the European Parliament from all the countries of the European Union.
Today, I also say to you in Lithuanian, in my native language, thank you, from the many Lithuanians who are with you in their hearts and minds. Georgians, like Lithuanians, understand the price of freedom, as do Ukrainians, Moldovans, and Belarusians. Sakartvelo, your fight is our common fight. This is the same fight – the fight for Europe. This is the same fight against the colonial Russian empire that has wanted to rule us for centuries. All dictators are afraid of their own people first. Putin is the one who is most afraid of Russians. He poisons them. Lukashenko is afraid of his own people. He keeps thousands of them in prison. One person in Georgia is also very afraid. What is he afraid of? Of de-Bidzinization.
However, this is inevitable because this regime and Georgia’s European future are incompatible. I appeal to the Bidzina Ivanishvili regime’s collaborators: Do not be afraid of new and fair elections. History is watching you. Let the people of Georgia say what they want. And no matter what ugly words dictators use, what lies they spread, we will stand with you, people of Georgia. You inspire us.
I express solidarity with the imprisoned fighters for the European future of Georgia. I am here in solidarity with Mzia Amaglobeli, Zurab Japaridze, President Mikheil Saakashvili, and many, many others. We see them here. Happy Independence Day to your country.
Georgia is Europe. Let’s be together. Here, together with you, I want to express my gratitude to the brave country of Ukraine, which defends all of Europe with its blood. Glory to Ukraine! I believe in a united, democratic Europe. Long live Europe! I believe in the brave Georgian people. God bless Sakartvelo!” she said.
