“Regarding the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project, at this stage, we have already conducted preliminary technical studies and they give us the basis for the successful implementation of the project,” - said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili.
Today in Tbilisi, Levan Davitashvili opened a high-level working meeting held within the framework of the agreement on the cooperation of four countries - Georgia, Romania, Hungary and Azerbaijan - in the field of renewable energies.
The Hungarian Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó, Director of Azerbaijan's Renewable Energy Agency Javid Abdullayev and State Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Energy George Niculescu participated in the event. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia Pavel Herczynski, Regional Director of the World Bank in the South Caucasus Sebastian Molyneux and other high-ranking guests.
The representatives of the countries participating in the event emphasized the need for cooperation in the field of energy in order to ensure energy stability. One of the main topics of discussion was the cooperation between the participating countries within the framework of the implementation of the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project. Accordingly, during the work of the committee, emphasis was placed on the current status of the project, as well as on other important issues related to the further development of the project.
According to Levan Davitashvili, the feasibility of the project has actually been confirmed, however, additional studies should be conducted during the current year and by the end of the year there will be a complete sketch of how the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project should be implemented, which will create the means of supplying renewable energies from Georgia and the South Caucasus in general to the European Union.
