According to the data published by the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, as of February 2023, the gross external debt of Georgia exceeded $8.264 billion, at the current exchange rate GEL 21.712 billion. As of February 2022, the amount of debt was $8.127 billion, or GEL 25.635 billion at the then exchange rate. As for the January 2023 data, the gross external debt amounted to $8.436 billion, or GEL 22.281 billion at the then exchange rate.
As of February 2023, the largest creditors of Georgia are: the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the International Bank for Development (IBRD).
Particularly, the debt to the EIB is $908.975 million; The gross external debt to the IBRD exceeds $1.299 billion, and to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) - $2.064 billion.
