
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), 194 economic entities engaged in organizing markets and bazaars were operating across the country in October 2025. Of these, 35.1% were located in Tbilisi, followed by Imereti with 16.5%, Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti with 12.4%, and Kakheti with 11.3%. The remaining 24.7% were distributed across other regions of Georgia.
GeoStat data show that limited liability companies were the dominant organizational-legal form among market and bazaar operators, accounting for 74.7% of the total. Individual entrepreneurs made up 22.2%, while joint-stock companies and cooperatives represented 2.1% and 1.0%, respectively.
An average of 135,000 people were trading at markets and bazaars nationwide in October. The largest share of traders was based in Tbilisi (41.8%), followed by the Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region (15.7%), Kakheti (9.5%), Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti (8.7%), Shida Kartli (7.0%), Adjara (6.7%), Kvemo Kartli (6.2%), Mtskheta–Mtianeti (2.4%), Samtskhe–Javakheti (1.1%), and Guria (0.9%).
In October 2025, economic entities operating at markets and bazaars sold consumer goods worth 384.5 million lari. Clothing and footwear accounted for the largest share of sales at 25.9%, followed by furniture and household items (23.3%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (21.0%), personal hygiene and other personal items (11.6%), vehicle spare parts (8.2%), and housing maintenance, repair, and security goods (6.4%). The remaining turnover came from leisure products (2.3%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.6%), communications equipment (0.5%), and medicines and medical products (0.2%). In addition, trade turnover for economic entities trading in motor vehicles was estimated at 733.8 million lari.
Survey results also indicate that 61.6% of total trade turnover at markets and bazaars was generated in Tbilisi. The Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region accounted for 15.5%, followed by Adjara (6.7%), Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti (4.0%), Kvemo Kartli (3.9%), Shida Kartli (3.7%), Kakheti (2.1%), Samtskhe–Javakheti (1.8%), Guria (0.4%), and Mtskheta–Mtianeti (0.3%).
