Georgia's National Intellectual Property Centre participated in a diplomatic conference organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to finalize and adopt a new design law agreement aimed at supporting global designers in protecting their creations. Darejan Mchedlidze, Head of the Trademarks, Geographical Indications, and Designs Department, represented Georgia at the event, contributing to discussions on the role of design in determining market value and providing a competitive edge.
The conference enabled WIPO member countries to refine and agree upon regulations designed to benefit all participating nations. The primary objective of the new agreement is to streamline design application processes, ensuring consistency and accessibility. Additionally, by facilitating the international registration of designs, the agreement aims to enhance opportunities for designers to protect their creations both domestically and globally.
