
In one year, the gross external debt of Georgia increased by $335.383 million, compared to the previous month, by $91.248 million.
According to the data published by the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, as of January 2023, the gross external debt of Georgia exceeded$ 8.436 billion, at the current exchange rate it exceeded GEL 22.281 billion. As of December 2022, the amount of debt was $8.345 billion or GEL 22.549 billion at the then exchange rate. As for the January 2022 data, the gross external debt amounted to $8.101 billion, or GEL 24.726 billion at the then exchange rate.
As of January 2023, the largest creditors of the government of Georgia are: the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the International Bank for Development (IBRD).
In particular, the debt to the EIB is $938.938 million; the gross external debt of Georgia to the IBRD exceeds $1.306 billion, and to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) - $2.094 billion.
