The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Otar Shamugia met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Chou Tsien. At the meeting, the parties talked about the importance of close cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Otar Shamugia drew attention to the opportunities available within the framework of the agreement on free trade between Georgia and the People's Republic of China.
"It should be noted that the agreement on free trade is an important opportunity for Georgia to further deepen trade relations with China. With the involvement of the National Food Agency of Georgia we are actively working to utilize the export potential of various products, and in this process we feel the support of the government of the People's Republic of China, for which we thank you very much. The Chinese market is one of the most promising for the export of Georgian wine. Despite the fact that during the pandemic, wine export figures decreased, the resource is large and we hope to be able to use this potential as much as possible", said Otar Shamugia.
At the meeting, the Minister also spoke about the quality of the Georgian wine and noted that many international organizations are involved in this process. In order to popularize the Georgian wine, the Minister expressed his readiness to personally get involved and participate in the opening of international exhibitions planned in Guangzhou and Shanghai this year.
