The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) has issued a statement rejecting allegations circulating since yesterday on several media platforms and by individual activists, claiming that Ukrainian intelligence had identified secure communication terminals belonging to the Russian Armed Forces on Georgian territory.
According to the SSSG, none of the media outlets or activist groups behind the claims have contacted the agency for verification.
“Despite this, none of the representatives of the mentioned media platforms have reached out to the Security Service. At the same time, we have not received any such information from the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service.
The Ukrainian intelligence service, in its own statement, mentioned the presence of such networks near Ukraine, on the front line, and on the African continent—not in Georgia.
The photo attached to the Ukrainian statement left room for misinterpretation, which enabled certain groups to conduct a false and anti-state campaign within Georgia.
We are proactively working to determine what led to the dissemination of material that contradicts their own official statements and allowed specific groups to spread misinformation,” the SSSG said.
