
According to data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.2% in April 2025 compared to the previous month. On an annual basis, the inflation rate stood at 3.4%.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile items, increased by 2.3% year-on-year. The same annual rate was recorded for core inflation excluding tobacco.
The modest monthly inflation was primarily driven by price fluctuations in the following categories:

Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: Prices in this group rose by 0.4%, contributing 0.18 percentage points to the overall monthly inflation. Notable increases were seen in:

Fruit and grapes (+5.2%)

Bread and cereals (+2.2%)

Coffee, tea, and cocoa (+1.9%)

Fish, oils and fats (+1.5% each)

Meat, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate, and confectionery (all +0.2%)
However, declines were recorded for: -
Vegetables (-2.1%)

Milk, cheese, and eggs (-1.5%)

Non-alcoholic beverages such as mineral water and juices (-1.2%)

Clothing and Footwear: Prices increased by 1.5%, contributing 0.07 percentage points to overall inflation. The main driver was a 2.3% rise in clothing prices.

Health: Prices in the health sector grew by 0.4%, adding 0.04 percentage points to the index. Increases were noted in:

Medical products, appliances, and equipment (+0.5%)

Hospital services (+0.3%)

Transport: This category saw a 1.0% decline in prices, subtracting 0.11 percentage points from the overall index. The drop was largely due to:

A 1.9% decrease in the cost of operating personal transport

Conversely, transport service prices increased by 1.3%.
