Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Georgia reached USD 179.4 million in the first quarter of 2025, according to preliminary data from the National Statistics Office (Geostat). This marks a 7.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
The primary cause of the decline is attributed to reductions in equity and debt instruments.
In Q1 2025, equity investments totalled USD 62.1 million, making up 34.6% of overall FDI. Reinvested earnings, on the other hand, dominated the FDI structure, amounting to USD 150.0 million and accounting for 83.6% of total foreign direct investment.
The data reflects a growing reliance on reinvestment by existing investors, while new capital inflows and lending through debt instruments saw notable contraction.
