Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili took part in the session titled “Trade, Investment, and Sustainable Development in the Face of Global Challenges” held within the framework of the Conference of Ambassadors.
In her address, the Minister reviewed key economic trends, placing particular emphasis on the tourism sector’s achievements in 2025 and outlining future priorities. She noted that tourism has become one of the main driving forces of Georgia’s economy.
“The results we have achieved in this sector are unprecedented,” Kvrivishvili said. “Tourism revenues for the first three quarters of this year reached a record USD 3.6 billion. Georgian tourism is highly diversified, and despite claims that we depend on a single market, statistics clearly prove otherwise. Visitor numbers from Europe, China, Israel, the Gulf countries, and neighboring states continue to grow. This balanced approach allows the sector to expand despite multiple challenges.”
She also underlined the importance of direct air connectivity, noting that a record number of airlines have entered the Georgian market. Currently, more than 70 airlines operate direct flights to 120 destinations, significantly enhancing Georgia’s international accessibility and attractiveness as a турист destination.
Kvrivishvili further highlighted Georgia’s strategic cooperation with China and expressed appreciation to Georgian ambassadors for their active engagement and contributions.
“Next year, we will place special emphasis on so-called long-haul markets,” she said. “China stands out in particular due to its rapid growth within our strategic partnership, whether in trade, tourism, or cargo turnover. We are working intensively to increase the frequency of direct flights and add new destinations in order to gain greater access to China’s tourism and trade markets,” the Minister concluded.
