
In 2024, Georgia reported a total of 39,483 live births, consisting of 20,755 boys and 18,728 girls. This marked a 1.8 percent decrease compared to the previous year, according to the National Statistic Service (GeoStat).
The distribution of birth orders saw changes as well. The share of first-order births decreased from 37.7 percent in 2023 to 35.9 percent in 2024, while the second child's share remained stable at 33.7 percent. The share of third and subsequent children increased from 27.5 percent to 29.0 percent.
Regarding maternal age, the share of births to women aged 25-39 remained consistent at 69.5 percent, while the share for women under 25 decreased from 24.6 percent to 23.2 percent. The share of births to women aged 40 and older increased from 6.0 percent to 7.3 percent. The average age of mothers at the time of their first birth in 2024 was 27.0 years.
