In the first quarter of 2025, Georgia’s airports handled 1.5 million passengers, marking an 8.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This included 758.9 thousand arrivals (up 8.8%) and 778.6 thousand departures (up 8.2%).
Passenger Flights
Scheduled flights accounted for the vast majority of passenger traffic, carrying 95.7% of all travelers during the quarter. The total number of passenger flights rose slightly by 1.3%, reaching 6,000 flights in total.
Air Freight and Mail
Cargo traffic also saw notable changes. The total volume of freight and mail handled at Georgian airports stood at 7.8 thousand tons, with 93% arriving and 7% departing.
The number of freight flights surged threefold compared to the first quarter of 2024, totaling 900 flights.
Performance of Georgian Air Carriers
Domestic airline companies transported 120.9 thousand passengers, representing a 7.2% increase year-over-year. However, the volume of freight carried by Georgian carriers dropped sharply by 33.3%, amounting to 37.2 thousand tons.
These figures reflect ongoing recovery and shifting trends in Georgia’s aviation sector, with steady growth in passenger movement and a surge in freight flight activity despite a downturn in freight volume handled by domestic carriers.
