Georgian wine took center stage in Paris during a series of high-profile events aimed at strengthening its presence in the French market and promoting it as a premium niche product.
A presentation and wine tasting event was held at Ferrandi Paris, one of the most prestigious institutions of French culinary arts. Another exclusive tasting was organized for key figures in the HoReCa sector and Michelin-starred restaurants, highlighting the pairing potential of Georgian wine with French cuisine—a central theme of the event.
The events were attended by Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency of Georgia, and Ekaterine Kokaia, Georgia’s Ambassador to France. Leading the tastings was Ana Godabrelidze, Chair of the Tasting Commission of the National Wine Agency.
As part of the visit, Levan Mekhuzla also held a meeting with Nicolas Caillard, Business Development Project Manager at Ferrandi Paris, to discuss future cooperation initiatives between Georgia and the renowned culinary school.
According to Mekhuzla, the goal of Georgia’s participation in these events is to diversify export markets, boost sales, and position Georgian wine—especially traditional Qvevri wines—as a unique offering in competitive international markets.
Since 2013, the National Wine Agency has pursued a strategic agenda to increase global awareness of Georgian wine through marketing campaigns and partnerships in leading wine-producing countries. France, known for its discerning wine culture, represents a growing market with rising interest in Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions.
