With the support of Georgia’s National Wine Agency, nine Georgian wine-producing companies participated in the international wine and alcoholic beverages exhibition “ProWein Tokyo 2025,” marking another important step in expanding the global reach of Georgian wine.
The exhibition welcomed nearly 50,000 visitors, including wine industry professionals and commercial sector representatives. Participation in such a high-profile event is seen as a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of Georgian wine in Japan, strengthen its market presence, and develop new trade partnerships.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Japan, Teimuraz Lezhava, attended the event. The Embassy of Georgia in Japan also actively supported the entrepreneurs in presenting their products at the exhibition.
As part of the promotional efforts, an educational masterclass and tasting event was held in Tokyo, bringing together 30 wine professionals, media figures, and commercial sector representatives. The tasting was led by Frédéric Cayuela, a wine expert from the Académie du Vin (Wine Academy of France) and a representative of Japan-based company Oteroirs K.K. Attendees sampled seven varieties of Georgian wine.
Japan is considered a strategic market for Georgian wine. Since the first major presentation in 2014, the National Wine Agency has supported Georgian participation in events such as “Foodex Japan,” “Wine and Gourmet Japan,” “RAW Wine Tokyo,” and “ProWein Tokyo.” These efforts have been supplemented by local wine tastings, competitions, and press tours to Georgia aimed at deepening appreciation for the country’s ancient winemaking heritage.
