
“The Georgian wine was represented in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea within the framework of the cooperation memorandum signed between the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Agriculture Program and the National Wine Agency of Georgia,” - the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia reported.
Deputy Minister Yuri Nozadze opened the event with a welcome speech. Along with the invited guests, the Chairman of the National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Korea Tarash Papaskua attended the Georgian Wine Evening.
As the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, Tarash Papaskua, noted at the event, “there is a real potential for active consumption of Georgian wine in Korea”.
"Our Embassy makes every effort to promote the Georgian wine in the Korean market. The Georgian Wine Evening held in Seoul was attended by representatives of 20 Korean companies, who are interested in exporting the Georgian wine to the Korean market and utilizing the existing potential," said Tarash Papaskua.
At the Georgian Wine Evening, wines of 16 Georgian wine producing companies with different designations were presented to wine professionals.
Tata Jaiani, communications and business development manager of the Georgian Wine Association presented the Georgian wine culture and modern industry. Based on the discussions with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the National Wine Agency of Georgia and private sector representatives, as well as the analysis of the Georgian wine export statistics and trends, the USAID, Germany and South Korea were identified as priority markets for the diversification of the Georgian wine exports as part of the USAID Agriculture Program. Within the framework of the memorandum signed in May of this year, the first event of the presentation of the Georgian wine was held in Seoul.
