The export of Georgian-produced tangerines saw a dramatic decline in the first nine months of 2025, falling by 81% compared to the same period last year, according to data from the National Statistics Service of Georgia (GeoStat).
Between January and September 2025, Georgia exported 1,783 tons of tangerines valued at $1.001 million. Over the same period in 2024, exports totaled 9,431 tons worth $5.385 million.
Despite the steep drop in volume, export prices remained relatively stable. According to Business Press News, the average export price per kilogram (excluding taxes) stood at $0.56 this year, compared to $0.57 in 2024 — a slight decrease.
Russia remained the dominant destination for Georgian citrus, accounting for 81.5% of total tangerine exports in 2025.
Russia: 1,383 tons worth $816,000
Armenia: 400 kg worth $185,000
The sharp decline in export volumes highlights ongoing challenges for Georgia’s citrus sector, which has faced fluctuating yields, shifting market access, and dependence on a limited number of export destinations.
