Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili sharply criticized European capitals, accusing them of using EU funds to support “xenophobic campaigns” targeting Georgia and companies like Eagle Hills. He argued that Europe bears responsibility for enabling such actions and called the situation “a disgrace.”
Papuashvili urged foreign donors to publicly identify themselves, claiming their funding is being used for “economic sabotage” against Georgia. He also alleged that several Georgia-based online outlets funded by European programs are not real media but NGOs running websites that act as “propaganda platforms” for violent and xenophobic narratives.
He further claimed that similar foreign-funded groups previously sabotaged major projects like Namakhvani and said that current efforts are financed through EU or EU-member-state budgets. Papuashvili reiterated his demand for donors to disclose who funds outlets such as Publika, Netgazeti, and On.ge.
