At the Lelo party office, former Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili addressed reporters, announcing that “the response to repression will be our collective plan. You will have full information about this when the time comes.” She emphasized that political repression signals weakness and the onset of decline in democracies, urging courage and solidarity in the face of escalating pressure—“politically, this type of repression is always a sign of weakness; this is the beginning of the end, so let us all be brave, as Mamuka and Badri are.”
Zourabichvili urged unity across society: “Today is the time for all of us to be together… Society must also express solidarity with all political prisoners and all prisoners of conscience who are fighting for our country today.”
She indicated plans to issue joint statements with partners, directed toward international allies. Expressing concern over selective treatment in parliamentary processes, she criticized the remote participation of some figures in the investigative commission while others—like Gakharia of the “For Georgia” party—face arrest. “This is double standards and very incomprehensible.”
