The head of government will leave for the Kingdom of Belgium today with a delegation.
According to the government administration, a political declaration will be adopted at the summit, in which it is important to reflect priority issues for Georgia. The declaration will reaffirm the strategic importance of the Eastern Partnership for the European Union, as well as its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and its partners within internationally recognized borders.
The Georgian side expects to mention such an important issue as the gradual integration into the EU single market, as well as the approval of the new Eastern Partnership agenda, in the development of which Georgia, along with the EU and other partner countries, was actively involved. As a result, an ambitious agenda has been set to strengthen the security of the partner countries' economies, institutions, societies, environmental and digital transformation mechanisms. The new agenda includes specific goals to be achieved through the EU's new regional investment plan. For Georgia, this means strengthening transport, energy and digital connectivity, including by maximizing the potential of the Black Sea.
The Eastern Partnership Summit is a high-level dialogue format between the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries, held every two years. It discusses the most important strategic and political issues and agrees between the parties.
During his visit to Brussels, the Head of the Georgian Government will also hold high-level bilateral meetings. Irakli Gharibashvili will meet with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
The Georgian delegation headed by the Prime Minister includes the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani and the Head of the Government Administration Ilia Darchiashvili.
