Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said recent developments show that the European Union is now facing the consequences of its own actions, invoking the saying that “you reap what you sow.”
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze commented on the US State Department’s decision to impose visa restrictions on former European Commissioner Thierry Breton and several other individuals, as well as on the reaction of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.
According to the Prime Minister, practices previously employed by the European Union—particularly those he described as violations of international law—are now rebounding against it.
“It was certainly a wrong practice, and now that same wrong practice has come back to haunt the European Union. From our perspective, this is very interesting,” Kobakhidze said. He added that the strong reactions and expressions of outrage from EU representatives also draw attention.
Earlier, Kaja Kallas criticized the US decision to impose travel restrictions on European citizens and officials, calling it “unacceptable” and an attempt to undermine the European Union’s sovereignty.
