
Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, met with representatives from leading international education organizations, including the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR), the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), and the European Students’ Union (ESU).
During the meeting, held at the Government Administration in Tbilisi, the Prime Minister outlined fundamental reforms planned in Georgia’s higher education system. He emphasized that the goal is a qualitative transformation focused on expanding access to quality education, aligning teaching and research with student needs, setting clear priorities, and promoting internationalisation.
Kobakhidze highlighted the critical role of international cooperation and support in advancing Georgia’s education system.
Key attendees included Douglas Blackstock (President, ENQA), Stephane Lauwick (President, EQAR), Aleksandar Susnjar (Director, EQAR), Ricardo León-Bórquez (President, WFME), Harm Peters (President, AMSE), Vesna Dodikovic-Jurković (President, CEENQA), and Maurizio Tira (member, EUA).
Their visit to Georgia coincides with an international education conference taking place in Tbilisi.
