Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the government will safeguard Georgia’s national and demographic interests in every major project it undertakes, including the Eagle Hills development. He emphasized that economic initiatives will move forward only if they align with these priorities.
Kobakhidze said the government is ready to answer all questions about the Eagle Hills agreement and stressed that the general development plan will be approved transparently and in full compliance with legal procedures.
Regarding the contract’s classification as a commercial secret, he explained that this decision follows both Georgian law and international practice. While the state is prepared to provide full clarification on essential contract points, some commercial details must remain confidential to protect the company’s negotiating flexibility with future partners.
He criticized political actors who are amplifying speculation despite understanding these principles, suggesting that such actions resemble the tactics of “foreign agents.” The Prime Minister reiterated that the government has “nothing to hide” and remains open to public inquiry.
Kobakhidze also recalled the earlier xenophobic campaign warning of alleged “Russification,” which he said proved baseless. The government, he noted, fulfilled its promise to protect national interests then—just as it will now.
He concluded by reaffirming that no project will move forward unless it fully protects Georgia’s national and demographic interests, and that all initiatives will aim to strengthen the economy and improve citizens’ well-being.
