Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed hope for stronger global peace efforts under the new U.S. administration led by President Donald Trump. Speaking at the Tbilisi Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, Kobakhidze emphasized Georgia’s commitment to working with all nations—especially major powers—that prioritize peace and stability.
“I hope under the new U.S. administration led by President Trump, global peace efforts will be further strengthened,” Kobakhidze said, welcoming recent messages from Washington that underscore peace and hope.
Highlighting the growing importance of peaceful development in a turbulent world, the Prime Minister praised China as a model of long-term stability.
“China is a superpower that has not engaged in war for the past 45 years. From the very beginning, it has focused on progress, modernization, and economic development—and the results speak for themselves,” he noted.
Kobakhidze pointed to ongoing military conflicts across various regions and stressed the urgent need for global cooperation to address rising threats to peace.
“We are witnessing a large-scale war and numerous conflicts around us. In such a context, the importance of peace must be emphasized. The role of superpowers is especially crucial in maintaining global stability,” he said.
He acknowledged the presence of the Chinese Ambassador at the forum, stating, “China’s 45-year commitment to peaceful development deserves genuine appreciation—not only for regional stability but also for its broader contribution to global peace.”
Concluding his remarks, Kobakhidze reaffirmed Georgia’s readiness to engage with any state—particularly global powers—that share a commitment to peace, economic progress, and the well-being of people.
“We are ready to cooperate with all states that support these principles,” he said.
