Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized that the primary objective of Georgia’s foreign policy is integration into the European Union. He reaffirmed this commitment during a government meeting, stating, "As outlined in our electoral program, we must fulfill over 90% of the obligations set forth in the Association Agenda and the Free Trade Agreement by 2028, and we are resolutely determined to uphold this promise."
The Prime Minister further highlighted the opportunity presented by new leadership in both the United States and the European Union to reset bilateral relations.
"We have ambitious plans and significant tasks ahead of us in terms of foreign policy. Our foremost priority remains EU integration. In line with our electoral program, we are committed to meeting over 90% of the obligations specified in the Association Agenda and Free Trade Agreement by 2028. We are dedicated to fulfilling these obligations with the highest level of integrity," - Kobakhidze remarked.
Irakli Kobakhidze also expressed hope for a substantial reset in Georgia's relations with the US and the EU, noting that the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States on January 20th marks a new phase in these relationships. "Over the past four years, our relations have encountered considerable challenges, many of which were not of our own making," the Prime Minister noted. "Artificial obstacles have been placed in Georgia’s path toward European integration, accompanied by significant and blatant blackmail. We must reject such coercion and persist in our unwavering pursuit of full integration into the European Union."
