The Committee on Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy of the Parliament of Georgia held a meeting with the Kazakh-Georgian Economic Union today, the press service of the Parliament reports.
The parties got acquainted with the presentation of the research on the Georgian-Kazakh economic cooperation, after which Giorgi Jakhutashvili, the Chairman of the Board of the Kazakh-Georgian Economic Union (KGEU) introduced the recommendations developed by the Kazakh-Georgian Economic Union to the members of the committee.
"The mission of the Kazakh-Georgian Economic Union is to develop economic relations between the two countries. In this case, our role is to know and actualize the issues, including the development prospects and the challenges related to them that prevent us from fully exploiting the opportunities. We conduct annual surveys in relation to statistical information, the directions we have been developed in and the possible negative dynamics in this regard. We hope that all the recommendations that we have presented from our point of view will be delivered to the public and private sectors with the help of the committee, so that coordinated work can be done to realize this potential," - Giorgi Jakhutashvili said.
The meeting was summed up by the chairman of the committee Davit Songhulashvili: "The Georgia-Kazakhstan economic relations have a traditional history. Today, their importance has increased even more, because the situation in the region has given even more significance to the development of the middle corridor, therefore, this corridor should be developed in a coordinated manner to make the most of the potential of this corridor and, secondly, to take the traditional relations between the two countries to a qualitatively different level."
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Georgia and the business sector.
