
Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, together with members of the Georgian parliamentary delegation, met with Waleed Alorainan, Secretary-General of the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce (FSC).
According to the Parliament’s press service, the discussion centered on establishing a Georgia–Saudi Arabia Business Forum aimed at unlocking the investment potential of both countries. The parties highlighted opportunities for collaboration in information technology, renewable energy, tourism, and infrastructure, and emphasized the importance of strengthening business partnerships.
The conversation also underscored the significance of finalizing a Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and the Persian Gulf countries, which would further enhance economic ties.
As part of the visit, the delegation also held a meeting with Abdulaziz Sager, Director of the Gulf Research Center, one of Saudi Arabia’s most influential think tanks. The sides exchanged views on political developments and ongoing conflicts in the Black Sea region and the Near East.
Dr. Sager briefed the Georgian MPs on the current situation in the Near East, including the Gaza conflict, as well as developments in Syria, Yemen, and neighboring countries, outlining potential avenues toward stability.
The parties agreed to convene a joint scientific conference focusing on security challenges in the South Caucasus and the Near East.
The Georgian delegation, led by Nikoloz Samkharadze, includes Irakli Shatakishvili, First Deputy Chair of the Committee; Vakhtang Turnava, Head of the Georgia–Saudi Arabia Friendship Group; and Victor Sanikidze, Chair of the Sports Committee and member of the Friendship Group.
