Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has sharply criticized the European Union, claiming that its so-called “peace project” is increasingly taking on the characteristics of a “war project.”
“I don’t know how much the EU capitals realize that the ‘peace project’ is increasingly resembling a ‘war project,’” Papuashvili stated in a social media post. He went on to claim that “Brussels is behind the street wars in Tbilisi,” and urged EU leaders to reflect on the direction of their policies.
Papuashvili’s comments mirror recent statements made by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who launched a petition campaign against what he described as Brussels’ “war plan.” Orbán warned that Europe is “on the verge of a hot autumn” and accused the EU of accelerating the continent’s path toward war.
