
Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, held a meeting with Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during the latter’s official visit to Georgia.
According to the Parliament’s press release, both sides reaffirmed the strong, long-standing friendship and partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan, grounded in mutual support for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. They also welcomed the steady exchange of high-level visits as a sign of deepening cooperation.
Minister Bayramov noted this was his third visit to the Georgian Parliament and emphasized the significance of Georgia’s top leadership—both the President and Prime Minister—choosing Azerbaijan for their first official visits, underscoring the close bond between the two nations.
The meeting also addressed bilateral and multilateral relations, with Speaker Papuashvili emphasizing the value of parliamentary diplomacy and ongoing legislative cooperation. Both sides recognized the increasing geopolitical and geoeconomic relevance of the Middle Corridor and highlighted the strategic importance of regional transport and energy initiatives.
In addition, the conversation touched on current developments in the South Caucasus, particularly the ongoing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Both parties stressed the need for lasting regional peace and stability.
