During today’s session, the 11th convocation of the Georgian Parliament officially recognized the credentials of 150 newly elected MPs with a unanimous vote of 88 to 0. Following this, the members took an oath of allegiance to the country.
Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, presented the election results to Parliament and handed over the necessary documentation for credential recognition to the temporary mandate commission. The commission then elected its chairperson and secretaries before reviewing the submitted documents.
According to the official results, five political parties secured seats in the new parliament. The Georgian Dream party holds 89 of the 150 mandates, while the remaining seats are split among the Coalition for Change, Unity – National Movement, Strong Georgia, and Gakharia-For Georgia. However, opposition parties have announced their decision not to enter parliament.
Lado Kakhadze, the oldest member of parliament, presided over the session until the election of the new speaker.
