Irakli Kovzanadze, Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Georgian Parliament, met with the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski. Paata Kvizhinadze, the First Deputy Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, also participated in the meeting.
Irakli Kovzanadze introduced the functions of the committee and plans for the current year to the Ambassador. The conversation touched on the priorities of the 2023 state budget, the macroeconomic parameters, monetary stability, and the sustainability of the financial and banking system of the country. As Irakli Kovzanadze pointed out, “Georgia has seen a double-digit economic growth for the last two years”.
"I think that 2023 will be a year of further growth for the economy of Georgia," - the Chairman of the Committee said.
The importance and prospects of further expansion of trade and economic relations and investment opportunities between Georgia and the European Union were emphasized at the meeting.
Irakli Kovzanadze also spoke about the EU-funded public service twinning project, which the committee launched last year. It was noted that the two-year TWINNING project will strengthen the parliamentary oversight of public finances, and in this regard, the European experience of many years is important.
