Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Georgian Parliament, stated that the recently adopted "hostile act" by the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee still has a long way to go before becoming law.
Speaking to journalists about the passage of the MEGOBARI Act, Gorduladze expressed his skepticism about its timing. He pointed out that the act was passed by the Senate just before March 31, which, according to him, could be a provocation aimed at inciting protests, manipulating public sentiment, and creating unrest in the capital.
He raised significant concerns about the motivations behind the act, especially in the context of the Trump administration’s declared war on the "Deep State"—a term used to refer to influential, unelected government officials. Gorduladze warned that the influence of such forces could lead to actions detrimental to Georgia's interests.
