The Georgian Ministry of Health has announced the provision of medical services to Ukrainian citizens who entered Georgia between February 1, 2022, and July 1, 2025, and have continuously resided in the country due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. This initiative, formalized through a decree signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, is set to remain in effect until July 1, 2025.
The decree outlines a variety of medical services available to Ukrainian nationals, including immunization, treatment for tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS (with specific medications), maternal and child health services (such as antenatal care and newborn screening), mental health support, diabetes management (with medication provision), dialysis, treatment for rare diseases requiring ongoing therapy, and access to emergency medical care, childbirth services, and emergency immunization.
Additionally, the Georgian government has approved financial assistance for Ukrainian citizens and individuals with permanent residency rights in Ukraine who have relocated to Georgia due to the conflict. Each family will receive GEL 300, while each individual will receive GEL 45, with the support continuing until July 1, 2025. The Social Service Agency will manage the disbursement of these funds.
The new decree also grants Ukrainian citizens the right to remain in Georgia without a visa for one year from their date of entry. Those who entered Georgia before February 24, 2025, will have their residency extended until February 24, 2026. An amendment adopted on April 23, 2024, had previously allowed for a three-year stay without a visa, but this latest decree introduces a one-year term for stays.
