The Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili emphasized the country’s anticipated economic growth of nine percent for 2024, describing it as a “rather high figure.” This projection follows the recorded ten-percent economic growth during the first ten months of the current year.
Davitashvili highlighted Georgia’s exceptional economic performance, noting, “There are very few countries in the world that have managed to sustain not nominal but real high economic growth for four consecutive years, consistently approaching double-digit figures.”
The Minister also outlined the government’s cautious approach to economic planning. “We have planned the economy for the next year conservatively, as we do every year, given the challenges of operating in a complex regional environment. For 2025, we anticipate economic growth to be six percent,” he explained.
Addressing the tourism sector, Davitashvili acknowledged the impact of ongoing protest rallies in several districts of Tbilisi, which oppose the government’s decision to defer European Union accession talks until 2028. He noted that while the protests have “negatively affected” tourism in specific areas, “tourist activities in Georgia as a whole have not slowed down.”
