
“The Georgian Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili delivered a speech at the 72nd session of the World Health Organization in Tel Aviv. The Minister focused on increasing access to medicines and improving the quality of medical services,” - the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Health, Labour and Social Affairs of Georgia reports.
Reportedly, Zurab Azarashvili noted that the government of Georgia is not sparing efforts to strengthen the health care system of the country and citizens can receive quality medical services without financial pressure.
"Georgia's national health care strategy for the period of 2022-2030, which was approved in May, outlines the steps that will significantly improve access to medicines by regulating pharmaceutical prices and increasing the quality control. Also, in order to increase the quality of medical services, on our initiative, the medical institutions will be obliged to undergo international accreditation starting from 2025. In order to improve the effectiveness of public healthcare costs, the reform of healthcare financing mechanisms is actively underway," - Zurab Azarashvili said.
The 72nd regular session was opened by the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog. The conference will last for three days. It is being attended by the Health Ministers of different countries and high-level delegates of the European region of the World Health Organization.
The First Deputy Health Minister of Georgia Tamar Gabunia is also paying an official visit to Israel along with Minister Zurab Azarashvili.
