The Head of the Government Administration of Georgia, Levan Zhorzholiani, met with the Ambassador of Germany to Georgia, Peter Fischer.
According to the Government Administration, the sides discussed the current state of bilateral relations. Zhorzholiani noted that the Government of Georgia is not satisfied with the present level of relations and expressed hope for improvement in the near future.
“The conversation also addressed the recent summoning of a German diplomat to Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Zhorzholiani emphasized that the decision was based on relevant grounds, adding that Georgia attaches great importance to its partnerships and expects diplomatic representatives to act in line with the principles of cooperation and mutual respect.
Another topic of discussion was the Georgian Law on Grants. Ambassador Fischer requested that an exception be made for grant agreements issued by German organizations to Georgian NGOs. Zhorzholiani explained the procedures for obtaining approval for such grants and stressed that the law applies equally to all, ruling out discriminatory approaches,” the Government Administration stated.
